The Vizsla’s Have ARRIVED!

(All 6 pups happy and healthy! 3 girls/ 3 boys. All AVAILABLE at this time)
Little Miss Ginger went into labor last night around 11:00pm.  Our first little vizsla made HIS appearance at 11:27pm.  I think he wanted to get out so he could have a different birthday than his siblings….
Meet: AQUA

He’s the biggest of the bunch!  Aqua’s solo birthday plan was foiled however, and his SISTER followed right after him at 11:50pm.

Just under an hour later (12:35 to be exact), another boy decided to join the party!

Male: STILL AVAILABLE
This guy was all over the place, it was hard to get a good picture of him.  He’s practically running already! I think this next little lady was fiesty and kick her brother out, cuz she followed only 15 min. after at 12:51am.
Meet: ROSE

Female: STILL AVAILABLE
25 minutes later girls took the lead in the gender ratio 3:2, at 1:16 am. another little lady entered the world.
Meet: CRIMSON

Female: STILL AVAILABLE
The next and last little booger to arrive I think is a little dramatic.  He waited just under 2 hours to finally grace us with his presence.  Talk about some build up! At 2:50 am we met our final puppy, and were that much closer to getting to sleep after some cleanup of course.
Meet: BRONZE

Male: STILL AVAILABLE
Ginger is such a good little momma, she has yet to leave the puppies side.  So protective too, Rusty can’t as much as glance in the puppies direction without feeling the wrath of Ginger.  I think he’s a pretty proud pop though!

Light Blue- OSCAR: “Ozzy” (Then and NOW)

“Ozzy” was our one solid vizsla. The others had some minimal markings.  I guess he just had to be different. Although he sounds like he’s settled in with his family just as well as any of his siblings, and thriving!

                       IMG_1838

Hello from the Roaring Fork Valley!

We are so happy with our pup, Ozzy.  His full name: Oscar Haack but we call him Ozzy. He's brought so much joy into our lives!  We are proud parents, so let’s bring on the bragging …

            IMG_3662

He’s a smart boy and very eager to please. We started his training right away and he has learned quickly what is expected of him. Crate training, house training, obedience, leash-training (although most of our hikes / runs are off-leash) is continuous and has been very successful.  We have even done a little bird hunting training- his pointing instinct came naturally and was fun to watch!  He loves any mental stimulation which involves running and exercise.  He gets compliments all the time about how handsome and well behaved he is- we are quickly turning the entire Roaring Fork Valley into Vizsla lovers!  It has helped a tremendous amount, with his socialization and consistent training that Joey has been able to take Ozzy to work with him every day.  At work, he’s exposed to a variety of noises and opportunities to meet different people and dogs of all ages every day which has rounded him out into a very likable, well mannered, socialable pup.

We take Ozzy with us pretty much everywhere we go.  If he ever needs to stay home in the daytime, it is never more than a couple hours; he has been crate trained and is content in his "den" until we return.  Ozzy rarely spends very much time alone and he prefers to ride along with us in the car, or accompany us on our hikes- he’s happy as long as he’s with us and we feel the same way!   Aside from the occasional burst of pent-up energy when he hasn’t gotten his daily exercise, which we answer with a trip to the dog park or an outing around the lake near our home, Ozzy is a sweet, sweet boy who loves to cuddle and sleep on his over-sized beanbag in our living room.  Exercise is important to our family for a healthy house and this is true for our Ozzy.  Everything we’ve read about this breed is true; from the “Velcro” description (if we are standing, Ozzy can usually be found sitting between our legs or leaning or sitting against us and if we are lounging on his beanbag he’s right there with us), to their beautiful sensitivity, keen intelligence, and their need for activity!  We couldn’t be happier with our new family member!

     IMG_3689
House Training: A breeze, he lets us know when he needs to go out.

Vaccinations / Health: He’s completed the last round now along with rabies vaccinations. We have started monthly heart worm meds. No major health worries. We’ve noticed a bit of dry skin so instead of bathing him every week or so we are just wiping him down with a warm cloth.  I know the weekly baths might sound a bit much, but with all the outdoorsy activities he was getting dirty! :) We have had concerns about his weight- every time we have taken him to the vet he’s on the low end of the weight range for his age. We’ve ruled out all possible adverse medical reasons and even had blood work done to test the enzymes produced from his pancreas. The test results came back negative (thank goodness) so along with the Vet, we’re just assuming that he’s got a high metabolism and is burning his energy quickly.

Feeding: we are feeding 1cup of Innova Large Breed Puppy Food 3x/day. Initially we were feeding him Royal Canin Medium Puppy #32, using the schedule on the back of the bag. Our decision to change food came from more research on the ingredients, and his inability to keep weight on. We changed to large breed formula to help regulate his growth rate.

Behavior: We noticed that he’s started to test us just a little… Not too often, but just here and there, he’ll look at us when we ask him to do something, like he’s thinking about it first before he complies which is totally normal at this age!  :) We keep consistent, although it’s hard not to give in to that sweet beautiful face!

Attached are only 4 pictures out of over 300 we've taken since he came home with us. I can't tell you how hard it was to choose between them! Such a dashing and handsome guy, they all look great to us. No no no... we aren't biased at ALL!!  :)

Happy New Year,

Sara & Joey

We are absolutely thrilled with the attention to care that Sara and Joey have given Ozzy.   It gives us such joy to be part of bringing such joy into someone’s life by helping them complete or add to their family.  Vizsla’s truly are amazing loving animals, and it helps to have a family that can so efficiency reciprocate that love.  Ozzy is one loved pup.  Thanks Sara and Joey for the wonderful life you’re giving him!

Orange- ZOEY (Then and NOW)

Orange could often be found wrestling and tumbling with her biggest brothers. This little lady was SOOOO curious.  She explored every inch of the backyard atleast once.

              IMG_1766

Hey Ingrid and Jeff,

Well for an update Zoey is doing really well. She curently weighs 25 lbs and seems like all legs. She just got done doing puppy training at petsmart and is now gonna start intermediate training on Tuesday. Zoey loves bein outside where it is warm. She started to go ice fishing with us which she as alot of fun with. She love to just run all over the ice. Next month sometime Zoey will be getting spayed and also a chip put in. I will get another picture of her sent to you soon on how big she has gotten.

Brandon, Becky and Zoey

zoey sanchez

Brandon and Becky like to keep busy and I’m sure little Zoey is great at keeping up.  Thanks for giving Zoey a forever home and including her in on all your little adventures, and letting her do what she does best!

Dark Blue-BENTLEY (Then and NOW

Dark Blue was our little tender man.  He was definitely more a lover.  He  would go with the flow, and was more sensitive than his brawling brothers…. and word is not much has changed!

IMG_1828

Bentley is doing fantastic! I do have him in training with Dave Coop of the Canine College! The only bad thing is he gets car sick so I have to bring extra towels because he does not like to ride in the car!

IMG_0554       IMG_0640

He's as energetic as they come and 38lbs so far! We run him often and he loves to be outside (when the weather is nice) but is totally potty trained and so far we have not had too many problems with chewing. I give him a lot of bones but he gets into the trash often! As they say about Vizsla's he HATES to be alone! Bentley follows me everywhere and sleeps in between us ever night! He is quite the guard dog- but only when we are in our room will he bark if he hears something. He's very quite which is good considering we live on a golf course!

                   IMG_0462

                           IMG_0523

From chasing geese to running in the snow, he's been an excellent puppy so far!

IMG_0657      IMG_0711

And thanks for reaching out! He's been a fantastic addition to the family! We LOVE HIM!!!

Best,

Carrie :-)

Training is sooo important to a family/dog dynamic.  And all of our families have done a great job, getting their pups the training they need, and providing them with such an active lifestyle.  Our Vizsla pups have truly been spoiled and we couldn’t be happier that Bentley gets to spend his days with the loving  Rogers family. Thanks for being so good to him!

Purple-PENELOPE: “Penny” (Then and NOW)

All of our females from the litter were pretty fiesty and Purple was no exception, but she sure had a sweet side and could turn on the charm.

300018_10150343148739389_1004644988_n

We named her Penelope and we call her Penny And she is doing GREAT! she is so cuddly, which we love She does have a lot of energy but thats good because it keeps us running. After we take her running she calms down and just wants to cuddle with anyone that will let her lol. I think Penny looks more like Rusty than ginger.

Training has been going well. She knows a lot but Its hard to get her to do anything without a treat lol. The only thing we are having a hard time with is her fear of EVERYTHING. its a little funny but we want to break her of it. She honestly will run and hide inbetween our legs if there is a bird, or another dog, or a person, or a little toddler... even if there is a large gust of wind she might hide between our legs! And the hair on her back stands up!

We are diligent about taking her to the dog park a couple times a week and right now she lives with two other little dogs and she is around people ALL the time but she is still having fear issues. It used to be worse because she wouldnt get in water or anything but after she has been at the dog park a while, she will play with the other dogs and want other people to pet her but it gets some easing into. She is very sweet though. She loves to be held like a baby - craddled and rocked (even though she is getting bigger). Brady's brother often puts her on his lap as though she is a baby and rocks her and she just loves it. I have some pictures that are pretty funny that I will send you. hope everything is going well with you! Thanks! take care.

We are so happy that Penny has found such a perfect family fit. And as always we love to hear that they’re getting the love, exercise, and training needed! Thanks Brady and Kiera for being great vizsla parents.
