Yellow-Chompers (Then and Now)

Who could forget this BIG FELLA?

IMG_1807

And believe it or not, but this big guy still holds the title for biggest pup weighing over 40lbs now.

“Yellow (Chompers) is doing well…….He is sleeping fine besides biting my face every morning at 5:30am ;) He has learned to sit and come, we are working on the other commands. We went skeet shooting last weekend and Chompers isn't gun shy at all. Everything is going well.”

Vizsla’s really are great alarm clocks are not afraid to use any measure to get a person out of bed.  Loved the named chompers for him.

We were so happy with shawn as a match for Chompers.  He’s an avid hunter and Chompers was quite the sniffer from day one.  So excited to see some of our pups getting to do what they were bred for BIRD HUNTING.

Chompers is doing well, potty trained, crate trained for sleeping, and has learned a decent amount of commands sit, stay, no, laydown, get it, bring it, drop it, shake, wait, geeeeit(get away), off, up, get in your bed, this way, etc. It's not hunting season yet but he's used to gun noises and I'm training his nose with a pheasant wing.
His health has been good besides a run in with a sharp ice auger a few months back that got him a couple of stiches in his knee and a cone on his head for a week. He has all of his shots and we'll be going in for neutering in the next couple of weeks. He's north of 40 pounds and strong as heck...gave me a black eye the other day with a head butt when we were playing around. All his adult teeth are now in.
I've included pictures of Chompers ice fishing, sleeping funny, coned up from his stiches, running with the wrong crowd (smoking and drinking), and wearing his jacket today since its freezing out.”

The funny sleeping is totally like Rusty

I think that Chompers is Rusty’s clone. Sleeps like him, looks like him, and he’s a big boy just like Rusty. Looking at the size of those paws though I wonder if he’ll pass Rusty up in size.  Rusty tops out at 60 lbs. so I guess we’ll see….

Excited to see how Chompers does come hunting season.

If you like Chompers’ transformation into doggyhood then check out his LITTLE bros and sisters and their progress.

Green-Stanley (Then and Now)

This little mister stole hearts….

                       green scrunchy face

And I’m sure nothing has changed for this stud!

I’ve loved the little tid bits Tammy has given us on Stanley’s progress.

“as soon as i get a pic with him and the kids i  will  send it to you.  he really is the best looking sweetest baby ever!  thanks so  much for him!”

he's growing so fast, he looks all bones.  lol  i'm trying to fatten him up but he's gotten so much taller in the last two weeks it's hard to keep up.  he sat for me today too.  we've only been working on it a couple days, but he did it.  the big ones are no bite, off and sit.  lol  baby steps.  he's going to go to puppy training, but I have to wait for a tuesday class to open up”

“i enclosed a pic of him from last night, he brought Lo's hula hoop upstairs”

“the other day he jumped in the bath with my daughter, it was so cute!”

It’s funny looking through the emails I noticed after Tammy sent the pic of Stanley with the Hula Hoop that I had mentioned how much he looked like ginger and the pictures of her as a puppy. Then I see the pictures she sent most recently and he really is a spitting image of Ginger still!

I love seeing the pics of the puppies in the kids beds.  They really are such sweeties and really love their families.

he loves to wake them up in the morning by jumping in bed with them.  he likes to help me get them ready for the day.”

We couldn’t be happier with this match for Stanley!

Take a look at Stanley’s brother’s and sister’s spotlights, and the beautiful dogs they’re growing to be.

Pink- Alta (Then and Now)

Remember this little lady?

The Fourniers were so great with keeping in touch with how Alta was doing. We really wonder how each of the puppies adjust especially that first week. Every pup transitioned beautifully and Alta was no exception.

“This week has been great getting to know her.  She has been very feisty but also super cuddly.  She has been pretty good with going to the bathroom outside and likes to follow us around everywhere (which is pretty cute).  She loves the dog park near our house and our friends all adore her.  We were able to move her kennel to the living room last night and she slept through the night (yey!).”

Alta was even quite the spit fire as a little puppy and I think the Fourniers have loved that about her from day one. I think this was a pretty close to perfect match.

We got an adorable Christmas Card from the Fourniers.

I’m amazed they were able to keep the reindeer antlers on her long enough for the picture.  I don’t think we could have accomplished this with Ginger or Rusty as puppies.

Here are a few things they’ve conveyed in recent correspondence.

“Alta is doing very well and is such a cutie pie.  We love to take her hiking and she loves the outdoors.  She is doing well with training and have taken her to a few classes so far.  She can come, sit, and stay.”

So glad that all of our families do a really good job of getting these puppies out and enjoying the outdoors….

We loved this one.  Alta is one of the ones that just looks like such a good mix between Ginger and Rusty.  She’s turned out to be one pretty lady.

Hi Ingrid!
Alta is doing very well.  She got spayed about a month ago and her scar is healing nicely.  We relocated to Lakewood, CO. for Erich's job and Alta is loving the dog park we have down the street.  She has been entertaining us a lot.  We call her our little character because she almost seems human from her facial expressions and how smart she is.  She is sooo fast!  We love watching her run.
Hope you guys are doing well!
Carolyn and Erich

Happy Home….

We were so fortunate to of had the beautiful experience of Ginger and Rusty having their first litter, and grew and learned so much through the process.  Our Vizsla family grew by leaps and bounds.  We were very happy with how Ginger and Rusty handled the puppies leaving the “NEST”.  We had read and heard of some mothers becoming resentful and distancing themselves from the owners.  Ginger however couldn’t have been more understanding.  We were a little worried though when the first puppy left.  Ginger had not noticed (in the commotion and excitement of visitors) That ‘Green’ now known as “Stanley” had left with the family to go to his forever home.  Once Ginger had counted her puppies and found she was one short she searched the perimeter of the backyard and all the in between.  She searched the house high and low for a couple hours. I felt horrible!  I thought we were going to have to call Tammy to bring Stanley back so that she could SEE him leave with them.  She seemed to of given up the search and I figured I would see how she did the next day.  the next day though we had another family picking up their little one.  This time I made sure that Ginger saw them holding one of her puppies and kept drawing attention to it as they left the house, and out to their car.  Infact Ginger followed a few of the families out to their car and jumped right in.  I’m guessing she thought they were all going to the dog park or something.  She didn’t seem at all bothered as each puppy left with their family.  Then ‘Pink’ now named “ALTA”  stayed with us a little over a week after all her siblings had left because her family was out of town.  She became part of the family: she played, cuddled and spent every waking moment with us.  I say waking moment because at night she was in a kennel in our room.  We were worried that Ginger and Rusty would be sad to see their fun little playmate go, and we were worried that we would greatly miss her as well.  Well Alta’s family came and got her straight from their flight back into town.  Ginger and Rusty didn’t bat an eye as she left with her new parents.  I can’t say that we took it as easily for a few days Jeff and I would look to eachother and say “oh I miss Alta”  But it only lasted a few days.  Like I’ve said before 2 Vizslas are enough for us.  With a baby that keeps me on my toes and many more future children I’m sure, it wouldn’t be fair to the dogs or our children to add anymore to the mix.

Life continues in the Harris home to be busy and full of energy between Ginger, Rusty and the continually progressing baby Kalvin.

Here’s a sneak at our lovelies!

          IMG_3562

We have 2 of the most attractive Vizsla’s I’ve seen.

         IMG_3564

And Ginger is just about as sweet as it gets…

         IMG_4017

If Kalvin is at the table eating have no fear we have the quickest clean up duo in all of Colorado right under our kitchen table.

Ginger can be a little dramatic at times…

Who could resist these two…

Well stay tuned. We will be spotlighting each of the puppies in their new homes and touch on all the progress they’ve been making, and you’ll get to see just how cute they continue to be. I’ve been amazed at what wonderful mixes of Ginger and Rusty some of them are, although there are a few mini Ginger’s and Rusty’s in the mix as well.
